Soup made from the bones of a goat, heavily laced with herbs (Chinese version), or Spices (Indian version). Both served with mutton pieces, ribs, or various parts. Sometimes even the brains are offered...

Fine dining quality mutton soup, and chapati at a hawker centre

An Indian stall in China town, run by a local Chinese, serving just 3 traditional (and one modern) Indian dishes: mutton soup, lentil soup, aloo gobi chapati, and a salad…

There are 2 top up options for mutton soup: ribs and/or tendons, both boned in. Despite operating at a hawker centre perceived to be where old Chinese folks gather, Kooks serves high quality stuff.

Delicious was the aloo gobi, a curry flavoured chopped cauliflower, half wrapped in the crispy chapati. Together with the lentil soup and salad, this is vegan friendly.

The signature dish here is the only animal unfriendly mutton soup. Soup was thick and full of mutton fragrance. Prepared mildly spicy, you can choose to up the ante up to extra spicy, which KC the owner, kook, waiter and dishwasher, would work up a sweat even for the hardened spicy hot lover.

Top up with ribs and/or tendons is recommended. Despite the lofty prices of the top ups, you will still feel that it’s worth the dollar. As a guide, the large was hearty and Greedy Ziggy’s tummy could barely cope, had to abandon the half eaten chapati which I left to finish off this great meal.

The lentil soup had a nice curry lentil flavour, good delicious bowl of vegetable soup. The salad was sweet and very edible.

A good place to be surprised how good a Chinese man can make Indian food!
